Responsibilities and Qualifications

Develop and maintain customized Business Intelligence solutions that provide tool and end-user access to data in a data warehouse, data mart or operational system. Participate as a member of a project development team to develop functional and technical specifications ensuring a comprehensive design, develop the solution, test the solution, and provide on-going customer support.


Collects and understands information from source systems, processes, and subject matter experts in order to build effective business intelligence solutions

Develops functional requirements supporting analytics, translates to technical requirements, develops and maintains technical designs, specifications and other project artifacts

Develops efficient ETL processes, including workflows and jobs scheduling, to move data from source to target according to requirements

Responsible for unit, string, and system testing and assisting in development of UAT test plans

Analysis, maintenance and support of existing ETL processes

Designs, develops, and maintains database tables, views, and materialized views as needed to support analytic tools and ETL processes

Pursues continuous improvement of data quality, standardization of data management processes, efficiency and quality of service

Develops expertise around tools and environment used for building technical solutions

Mentors junior ETL developers in best practices and ensures quality, correctness and completeness of their development as needed

Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other quantitative field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience: Five or more years experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, and ETL development
  • Other: Development experience in Java, as well as experience in DataStage or equivalent ETL tool Experience with Oracle DBMS, data modeling, and possesses strong SQL query skills Strong analytical skills Experience with software development life cycle methodologies Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills. This includes the ability to provide clear explanations of problems and resolutions to both technical and non-technical personnel. Attention to detail, organization and timeliness to meet customer service expectations Demonstrates effective problem solving and troubleshooting skills Demonstrates effective customer service
  • Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Business, Information Systems, or Healthcare Administration
  • Preferred Other: Development experience in Java SpringBatch Knowledge of hospital and health care data GPO experience Supply Chain experience An understanding of contracting and customer agreements Experience with Business Objects or other Business Intelligence platforms
