The Project Manager I (PM-1) serves within the Resource Optimization & Innovation (ROi) organization. The PM-I is accountable for participating in, leading, and directing process improvement and sourcing projects for ROi. Incumbent performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


Pre-Commit Projects- In coordination with the sourcing team, coordinate and document all work as it relates to pre-commit categories and live bidding events.  This includes potential engagement with customers and/or suppliers.


Process Improvement Projects- With the direction of sourcing and sourcing operations leadership manage projects to make sourcing and operational work more efficient and effective.  Develop metrics to measure progress against improvement recommendations.  


SOP Development- Work with applicable to stakeholders within sourcing and sourcing operations to develop and maintain SOPs and Standard Work.


Reporting- Responsible for maintaining status reports and project metrics. Present status updates and reports to Executive leadership and Project participants within ROi.


Systems/data- Coordinate the design and build for data flow between parties within ROi


Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering



  • With project planning, scheduling, project coordination, and experience presenting to peers and members of leadership.
  • Two years of progressive supply chain experience, to include purchasing, contracting, and materials management


  • Ability to speak and present project updates effectively before groups of co-workers.
  • Demonstrated ability to be collaborative and work in a team environment with diverse group of clinical and non-clinical personnel
  • Energetic and demonstrated ability to be self-driven.
  • Demonstrates a desire for continuous improvement & quality
  • Basic awareness and understanding of problem-solving and decision-making approaches.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze large volumes data
  • Ability to influence others without formal authority.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for an extended period of time.
  • Knowledge of work area and needs of internal and external customers.
  • Good listening skills, can look at a project from other’s point of view.
  • Shares responsibility in the content, impact and success of a project.
  • Understanding of how a project will impact the organization financially
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of functionality and use of healthcare related products.
  • Proficient with software products regularly used by the organization, but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, Visio, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Lawson Supply chain,, Mercy Insight (powered by Business Object and/or Cognos).

Preferred Education: Advanced degree highly preferred 

Preferred Certifications: PMI Certification
