Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsible for leading the programmatic sourcing solutions initiative for ROi. This leadership position will be responsible for developing the business plans, sourcing strategies, cost improvement, contracting strategies, marketing and communication plans for four key areas of focus; Private Label, CPT, Bulk-Buy/Investment-Buy and Non-Acute. This position provides leadership, support and strategic direction primarily focused on Medical and Surgical, Pharmacy, Lab, Radiology, non-clinical related products/services and non-traditional spend categories.


A key focus of this position is to develop optimal business strategies while matrix managing coworker relationships that will improve Mercys cost position and reduce uncontrolled variation, additionally this individual will be closely involved with the ROi Aligned process for the current facilities served by ROi while being responsible for introducing and implementing the ROi Aligned process to the Non-Acute marketplace which today is extremely under-served by ROi.


The Director will have direct P&L responsibility for the areas of focus as described. The Director reports to the Vice President of Group Purchasing and is a member of the GPOs Senior Management Team. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

  • Education: High school diploma
  • Experience: Experience developing and leading complex projects in matrix management environments.
  • Five years management experience in progressive management roles
  • Other skills & knowledge:
    • Understanding of Supply Chain from a financial and operational standpoint.
    • Leadership skills must include the ability to facilitate and build consensus among diverse groups, strong persuasive presentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
    • Proven negotiation skills.
    • Ability to conceptualize, quantify and sell new programs and concepts.
    • A strong desire to redefine the economic model of the healthcare supply chain.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit.
    • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
    • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Superior analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to deal with all levels of co-workers, providing leadership, influence, and problem resolution.
    • Ability to work effectively in team environment.
    • Proficiency with business software tools including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive change in an organization via credible influence and not direct control of operations.
