Responsibilities and Qualifications

Clinical Contracting

 

As a member of the ROi team, the intern will be expected to make a significant contribution to the organization.  Training includes a general orientation to the organization.  Over the internship period, the intern is expected to work approximately 400 hours and will work on assigned projects.  Candidates should have an interest in the healthcare supply chain industry. The internship is a paid experience.

 

As an active team member, interns must be enthusiastic to learn, stay current with the latest trends in the industry, and apply what they learn to their work. We look for ways to help our interns grow and to serve as a mentor to those new to the field. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Specific Role/Expectations:

 

GPO Operations

  • Shadow the Clinical Contracting Process Coordinators
  • Identify one opportunity for improvement related to an operational process
  • Map out the current process flow
  • Compile and present a process improvement initiative targeted at improving one aspect of the Contract Process Coordinator workflow

Market Analysis

  • In coordination with Clinical Contracting leadership, will identify one segment of the market to investigate
  • Will compile and present an overview of the market segment chosen
  • Will identify future contracting opportunities related to this market segment

Data Analytics / Marketing

  • Become familiar with pharmacy specific data analytics
  • Become familiar with cost savings / product utilization initiatives
  • Assist in the design, implementation and overall marketing of compiled pharmacy initiatives

 

Qualifications:

  

Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

 

  • Enrolled in a U.S. accredited university completing a degree with an emphasis in healthcare or business management related field (at least 60 hours of undergraduate study completed or 15 hours of graduate studies completed).
  • Minimum 3.25 GPA.
  • Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge and demonstrated ability to work in Microsoft Office programs.  Familiarity with the internet environment a must.
