    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Overview

    Responsible for the efficient operation of designated routes and vehicles, to ensure daily delivery of all services to the customer. The philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics, the Employee Code of Conduct, goes beyond expectations to satisfy the needs of our customers. Provides relief for driver coverage as needed, guidance to new associates; acts in the capacity of a route coordinator, providing direction to staff in support of and in absence of the Department Manager. Performs related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Monitors and report on logistic driver performance levels according to established guidelines. Responsible for one-three day training rides yearly.

     

    2. Provides high degree of collaboration with departments and tailors logistical capabilities to meet customer needs. Monitors and reports on Logistics Services performance levels according to established guidelines.

     

    3. Validates all relevant policies and procedures. Assures all policies, procedures and operations are in compliance with state and federal regulations including DOT, FMCSA, DEA, FDA, and other regulatory agencies that vary by state and region. Assures compliance with established service standards.* Documents training and certification of all transportation personnel including FOT requirements, FMCSA Requirements, FDA, DEA, and all other regulatory agency requirements.

     

    4. Resolves employee problems and conflicts and reports conflict with the logistics manager. Responds to co-worker requests and makes sure their needs are being met. Is able to work with other people to produce high volume, high quality work, in a close setting.

     

    5. Maintains department payroll and audits department payroll and corrects any errors.

     

    6. Maintains and schedules maintenance on all trucks. Audits fleet condition and conducts periodic inspections to ensure DOT procedural compliance. Reports any concerns to Manager. Responsible for maintaining team access into delivery locations, (alarm codes, badge access and clinic keys).

     

    7. Evaluates and motivates personnel to provide excellence in distribution systems and makes needed changes to ensure optimal mix of service and efficiency.

     

    8. Meets Health System attendance standards.

     

    9. Performs driver relief duties as requested. Responsible for knowing all routes within the logistics department.

     

    10. Performs other work duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications:

    Because you’re committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That’s why you’ll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

     

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED.

    Licensure: Must posses a current Louisiana Class B license and be able to obtain a Class A CDL on request. A Louisiana Dept of Motor Vehicles driving background check is required upon acceptance of position.

    Experience: Three years delivery experience beneficial. 2 to 4 years of successful managerial experience in the logistic and/or transportation field.

    Other: Good understanding and effective maintenance of all vehicles. Good organizational skills with demonstrated skill in human relations and communications. Effective communication skills oral and written, knowledge in basic Windows (Excel, Word and Outlook). Must have a good driving record. Working Conditions: Operate a vehicle for long periods of time. Minimum lifting of 50 pounds required. Some delivery positions require many hours of walking on concrete floors. Equipment Used: Motor vehicles ranging in size from small minivans to trucks with gross weight of 26,000 lbs., forklift, pallet jack, order picker, and 2-wheel dollies. Leadership and teamwork skills; strong written and verbal skills; technical skills including computers, quality programs, and logistics metrics; analytical/cost skills. Must have understanding of DOT regulations; ability to work under pressure; strong management skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks under stressful conditions. Problem solving skills are critical.

    Preferred Experience: Experience in leading transpiration regionally based fleet assets. Knowledge of federal tariff rules and regulations. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Ability to travel up to 25%. Knowledge of and experience with GPS tracking and OBC asset systems.
